Jewelry repair

Brooch and pin repair.

Brooches and pins usually fail at the pin stem, the catch, or the hinge. These small parts can be repaired or replaced, often without changing how the piece looks from the front.

When you might need it.

  • The pin stem is bent, loose, or broken
  • The catch won't hold the pin closed
  • The hinge has come off the back

What’s involved.

  1. Pin stems

A bent stem is straightened or a new one is fitted.

  2. Catches

Catches are repaired or replaced, including with a safety catch where it suits the piece.

  3. Hinges

A loose hinge is re-attached, keeping heat away from stones and enamel on the front.

Preliminary pricing.

Your preliminary price range is free and comes from your photos. The final price is confirmed after we inspect the piece in hand, and no work starts until you approve it.

What affects the price

  • Which parts need work
  • The metal
  • Stones or enamel near the repair
  • Whether the piece is antique
