Watch repair

Watch repair, by mail or in Los Angeles.

Servicing for mechanical and automatic watches, battery and crystal replacement, and bracelet fitting. Send photos for a free preliminary price before anything is shipped.

Jewelry & Watch Hospital is an independent repair service. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any watch or jewelry brand. Brand names are used only to identify the pieces we repair.

What to tell us about your watch.

The more we know before you ship, the closer the preliminary price will be.

  • Brand and model

Printed on the dial or the case back. A reference or serial number helps too, if you can see it.

  • What it's doing

Stopped, running fast or slow, fog under the crystal, a rattle inside, a loose bracelet, or a damaged crystal.

  • Its history

When it was last serviced, if you know, and anything that happened before the problem started.

  • Photos

The dial straight on, the case back, the clasp, and any damage. Please don't open the case back yourself.

How we work on your watch.

A watch can look fine from the outside and still need care inside. This is how we handle every one.

  • Inspected before the final price

The photo estimate is a starting point. Once the watch is in hand, we inspect it and confirm the final price before any work.

  • Nothing done without your approval

If we find more than the photos showed, we explain what and why, and you decide whether to go ahead.

  • Removed links come back to you

Bracelet links taken out during sizing are returned with the watch. You'll need them if your size changes or you sell the watch later.

  • Checked before it leaves

The watch is checked after the work and the result is documented against its repair ID before it's packed for return.

How pricing works.

The same repair can cost more or less depending on the metal, the size, and the condition of the piece, so every price starts from your photos.

Common questions.

Which watch brands do you work on?

Tell us the brand and model in your estimate request and we'll confirm whether we can take it on before you ship anything.

Are you an authorized service center?

No. We're an independent repair service, not authorized by or affiliated with any watch brand. If your watch is under a manufacturer's warranty, check with the brand first, since work by an independent repairer may affect it.

Is my watch still water resistant after it's opened?

Opening a case can affect water resistance. If water resistance matters to you, say so in your request and we'll explain what we can check for your watch.
