Opening the case
The case back is removed with the right tool for its type: screw-down, snap-on, or screwed.
Replacing the battery
The old battery is removed and the correct replacement fitted, and the watch is checked to confirm it runs.
Resealing
Gaskets are checked and the case back is closed securely.

The right battery
The battery is matched to what the movement is designed for, not just to the size that fits.
Opened with care
Case backs are opened with the right tool for the case, to avoid scratches and bent case backs.
Leaks checked
Old batteries can leak. The battery compartment and contacts are checked when the old one comes out.

Shipping a watch only for a battery often costs more than the battery itself. By mail, it makes the most sense combined with other watch or jewelry work.

The movement may need cleaning or repair, or an old battery may have leaked. We'll explain what we find and give you an estimate before doing more.
Is my watch still water resistant after a battery change?
Opening a case can affect water resistance. We check and reseal gaskets, but if water resistance matters to you, ask about pressure testing in your request.
How long does a watch battery last?
Usually a few years, depending on the movement and features such as a light, alarm, or chronograph.
