Jewelry repair
Remodeling and redesign.
A piece you no longer wear can become one you do. We can rework a setting, move stones into a new design, or turn one kind of piece into another, while keeping what matters to you about the original.
When you might need it.
- An inherited piece that isn't your style
- A setting that's worn beyond simple repair
- Loose stones from old jewelry that you'd like to use
- A ring you'd rather wear as a pendant, or the other way around
What’s involved.
Talking it through
We start with what you have and what you'd like, and tell you what's practical with your stones and metal.
Agreeing on the plan
You approve the design and the price before any work begins. Stones are checked before they're removed.
Making it
The new piece is made or the old one reworked, then stones are set and the piece is finished.
Care at the bench.
What we watch for when we do remodeling and redesign.
Your design, agreed first
Nothing is made until you've approved the design and the price.
Stones checked before reuse
Stones from the original piece are checked for chips and wear before they're set into the new design.
What matters, kept
If part of the original matters to you, such as an engraving or a setting, tell us and the design is planned around it.
Preliminary pricing.
Your preliminary price range is free and comes from your photos. The final price is confirmed after we inspect the piece in hand, and no work starts until you approve it.
What affects the price
- How much of the original piece is reused
- The complexity of the new design
- The number and type of stones to be set
- Any new metal or stones needed
If you’re mailing it in
Photos of the piece, plus a picture or description of what you have in mind, are enough to start the conversation. Remodeling usually involves a few messages back and forth before anything is shipped.
Start with photos. Don’t ship anything until we’ve agreed on shipping and insurance with you.

Can you use my own gold?
Sometimes. Old gold can contain solder and repairs that affect its quality, so reusing it isn't always the best option. We'll explain the choices for your piece.
Will I keep my original stones?
Yes. When we remodel around your stones, the same stones go into the new piece. They're checked and documented before they're removed.
Can several old pieces become one new piece?
Often, yes. Stones from several pieces can go into one new design. Send photos of everything you'd like to use and we'll tell you what's possible.
