Jewelry repair

Pendant and bail repair.

The bail, the loop a pendant hangs from, wears where it rubs against the chain. When it wears through, the pendant can be lost. We replace bails and jump rings, and attach or re-attach charms.

When you might need it.

  • The bail looks thin where the chain passes through
  • A jump ring has opened or is missing
  • The pendant no longer fits the chain you want to wear
  • A charm needs to be attached to a bracelet or necklace

What’s involved.

  1. Bails

A new bail is fitted in a matching metal and a size that suits your chain.

  2. Jump rings

Jump rings are replaced and closed, or soldered shut for extra security.

  3. Charms

Charms are attached with jump rings or soldered in place, as you prefer.

Preliminary pricing.

Your preliminary price range is free and comes from your photos. The final price is confirmed after we inspect the piece in hand, and no work starts until you approve it.

What affects the price

  • The type and size of bail
  • The metal
  • Whether jump rings are soldered closed
  • How many charms are attached

If you’re mailing it in

Send the chain you plan to wear with the pendant, so the bail can be sized to it.

Common questions.

Can a bail be made bigger for a thicker chain?

Yes. A larger bail can usually be fitted.

Should jump rings be soldered?

For charms and pendants you'd hate to lose, soldering is more secure. The trade-off is that they can't be removed easily later.
