Jewelry repair
Earring repair.
Earrings take a lot of small knocks, and the parts that fail are tiny: a bent post, a lever-back that won't close, a back that no longer grips. Most of these can be repaired or replaced so the pair is wearable again.
When you might need it.
- A post is bent, loose, or has snapped off
- A lever-back or hinged hoop won't stay closed
- Backs slide off too easily
- You'd like clip-on earrings converted to pierced, or the other way round
What’s involved.
Posts
A new post is attached in a metal that matches the earring, usually by laser welding or soldering.
Closures
Lever-backs, hinges, and catches are adjusted, repaired, or replaced.
Conversions
Clip-on fittings can be replaced with posts, and posts with clip-on fittings, where the design allows.
Preliminary pricing.
Your preliminary price range is free and comes from your photos. The final price is confirmed after we inspect the piece in hand, and no work starts until you approve it.
What affects the price
- Whether one or both earrings need work
- The type of fitting: post, lever-back, hinged hoop, or clip
- The metal, and how close the repair is to any stones
- Whether new backs are needed
If you’re mailing it in
Send both earrings of the pair, even if only one is broken, so the repair can be matched.

Can you replace a post close to a stone?
Often, yes. A laser keeps heat away from the stone. We'll confirm from your photos.
Do you replace earring backs?
Yes. Tell us which style you prefer, such as push backs or screw backs.
